Lost Property
Parents
should please ensure that all items of clothing and belongings are clearlynamed.
There is a lost property cupboard in both the Infant and Junior Departments
to allow quick retrieval of missing articles. If things are namedclearly
we can get them returned to their owner.
Vandalism
We
hope that the school is part of the community and a facility to be enjoyedby
all. We would be grateful therefore that if you see any misuse of buildings
or grounds you notify the police or the security firm that patrols the
grounds outside school hours. The school is equipped by external CCTV,
which is motion activated.
Health/Sex Education
Children
are guided sensitively at all stages in matters of personal hygiene andcleanliness. In
Year 6 pupils are introduced to sex education which is set clearly
within the context of a loving family background. The aim is to deal with
the particular emotional and physical development associated with puberty.
This is a natural progression from Science work concerning the composition
and functions of the body. The approach is through the use of videos,
both mixed and single sex group discussion and written topic work. Parents
are informed when this aspect of the curriculum occurs. They may wish
to contact the school if there are any points of concern and will be
given the opportunity to view the material used.
Videos
1) 'Growing'
2) 'Someone New'
3) 'Life Begins'
4) 'Differences in Detail'
If
parents wish to exercise their rights to withdraw their child from sex
education they should initially contact the school to arrange an appointment
to see the Co-ordinator of Health Education.
The
School Nurse is involved in this education programme and we are pleased
how well this work has been received over the last few years.
