The jubilee celebrations went off well thanks to some hard work from the canteen staff.
welcome plaudits when they won the Plymouth Primary Schools 5-aside
football competition at the Mayflower Centre. The week long tournament
saw our team win the competition with a 3-2 victory in the final. The team
will receive equipment from Plymouth Argyle as well as representing "The
Pilgrims" in a regional competition in Bristol. The proud team and their
coach, Mr. Johnson, are shown in the picture below receiving their winners
medals.
Marcus our caretaker has been making news he's a big
Rock'n Roll fan. He also runs a disco called the "Rollin Rock Record Hop"

Tesco Vouchers
Thanks for your support with the collection of Tesco vouchers. We are now in the last week for collection and we are only 243 short of 20,000 (a huge increase on the last record). So if you have any at home please send them in now.
Staff congratulations
Congratulations go to Mr. Goldie who has been promoted to Deputy Head at Austin Farm Primary from September. Mr. Goldie has done a fantastic amount for this school in the years he has been here and he will be sadly missed by pupils and staff. Good luck in your new post Mr. Goldie!
Congratulations also go to Lucy Benson our teaching assistant in Year 4. Lucy who came here as a trainee has already achieved an NVQ 2 & 3 and has now been accepted on a teacher training course at college of St. Mark and St. John from September. We wish Lucy every success in her future career.
Finally, congratulations go to Mrs. Harris who will be leaving her reception class at the end of term in order to start a family. We hope all goes well and look forward to welcoming her back to school in 2004.
Southway Primary AssociationThanks go to Pat and Barry Lopez for taking the P.T.F.A. stall to Tamerton Fair and The Lord Mayor’s Day events. Thanks to their efforts we have over £300 more to spend on the pupils at school.
Governor News
Mrs. Ann Box, our Chair of Governors had asked me to inform you that as Reverend David Lewis has moved to Cambridge we have a vacancy on the school Governing Body for a L.E.A. representative. She is hoping that one of the new local councillors will be able to join the Board next term.
Children’s classes
I will be in a position to let everyone know their children’s classes for next year by the end of this month when we have been able to take account of some of the staff changes outlined above.
Payments to school
Please note that if you are sending a cheque to school to pay for something (uniform, trips etc) the cheque must be payable to “Southway Primary School”. Please also place your cheque card details on the reverse of the cheque.
N.B. – the only time a cheque should be made payable to Plymouth City council is for dinner money.
