Parental Visits and Reports
Parents
are invited to attend Parent Consultations each term to discuss theirchildren's
work and progress with the class teacher. A written report is sent home
during the Summer Term for every child. You may also require to see the
class teacher at other times and it is requested that an appointment is
made with the secretary, which will be mutually convenient.
An
opportunit to meet with the headteacher to discuss your child's progress
at other times is available if there are particular prolems.
At
the end of KS1 and KS2 (Year 2 and Year 6) children will undertake the
National Standard Attainment Tasks and information and information regarding
their performance will be distributed with the school report.
Children
in years 3,4 and 5 will also be formally assessed in My using SAT tests
and material, to monitor their standard and progress.
Jewellery
Parents
are required to discourage their children from bringing articles ofjewellery
or other valuables to school, since in the event of damage or loss children
become distressed, and the Authority cannot be held liable.
Dangling
earrings and rings are particularly dangerous and if they are caughtduring
play or games can cause serious injury. Therefore, if children have had
their ears pierced then only plain studs are permitted.
Available Documents
Documents, such as Department of Education circulars, administrative
memoranda and the National Curriculum are available for parents to view
in the entrance hall. There is also a copy of the 2001 Ofsted report and
summary. School subject guidelines are also available.
Parents will also be notified in advance of the projects their children
will be undertaking in the following term.
We hope that this will help parents keep in touch with the curriculum
that their children will be covering.
Medical/Dental Inspections
The
School Dental Service, Speech Therapists and the School Nurse makeregular
visits to the school. We are also requested to inform you that it is no
longer the duty of the nurse to check for head lice, and parents are advised
to make regular checks. Further advice is available from the Health Centre.
If
your child contracts an infectious or contagious complaint you must check
with the school on the agreed period of absence.
Cars on school premises
Owing
to the obvious dangers to children caused by unauthorised vehicles moving
in a very limited space, parents are requested not to bring their cars
into the school grounds. There is also the further possibility that your
insurance may not be valid within these premises. We wish to minimise the
danger to children who need a safe environment in which to work.
The school gates are closed from 2.50 p.m. to 3.15 p.m. each day.
