Security
The
school strives to see that children have a safe and secure environment
at school. Regular health and safety checks are undertaken of the building
and equipment used by pupils. We also have a system for securing thebuilding
from intrusion. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. access can only be obtained through
the main entrance using a monitored speaker phone system.
The
gates are locked during arrival and departure times to avoid dangers from
cars on school premises.
Assembly
Schools
are legally required to provide daily collective worship and teachReligious
Education. Children can however be withdrawn from either R.E. or collective
worship on religious grounds. Please contact the Headteacherif you wish
your child withdrawn from either. The school uses the agreed syllabus for
R.E. devised with Devon County and Plymouth City Council.
Parents
are invited to attend Class assemblies to see their children lead the
assembly and stay for coffee afterwards. Classes lead the assembly about
once a term on a Friday morning at 9.10 a.m.
Absences from school
It
is a legal requirement that parents must inform the school of the reason
for the absence of a pupil either by telephone or, preferably by a note.
Parents wishing to take their children on holiday during term time should
complete aHoliday Form before the vacation. Forms are available from the
secretaries.
Unjustified
absences are always followed up by the Educational Welfare Officer.
