Transition to Secondary School
At
the end of year 6, pupils proceed to secondary school education. Parents
may opt for a place for their child at a local Comprehensive School.
A
booklet entitled " The Next Step" gives information on open evenings. The
booklet also gives details of how priority is given to children when a
secondary school is over subscribed.
Other
parents may also be considering entering their child for the Grammar School
selection process. Full details of all the available options are sent to
parents of Year 6 pupils in September and the school staff are pleased
to offer any help and advice on the important decisions regarding the transfer
to the Secondary Phase.
If
children leave the school before the age of eleven, then their completedschool
records are forwarded to their new school when this is known.
Contact Numbers
Parents
are requested to let the school know of any changes to information given
on the admission form, particularly if there is a change to address, telephone
number or emergency contact numbers. The ability to be quickly
in touch with a responsible, caring person to take care of pupils when
they are ill can prevent unnecessary distress.
