What We Have Been Doing

 Year 3

Mrs. Cole and Miss Deakin have been using " Stowaway" which is an interactive computer program showing cross-sections of Royal Navy galleons. Everyone dressed as pirates to get into the mood - it was a fun lesson. They learnt what it was like to live on board a ship in the days of Lord Nelson - but hearing the screams of the sailor being operated on by the ship's surgeon was blood curdling.

Another exciting project is that  year 3 children are linking up with Eggbuckland Community College  secondary pupils, by e-mail , to be mentored by them on their science investigation. The children are so enthusiastic with regard to this project and the teachers can tell it is going to be successful in moving the children forward in their science curriculum.

Year 5

The two classes of year 5 have been using a computer program called "Flowol" as part of their control technology. This program uses flow diagrams and mimic diagrams to control such things as a pedestrian crossing and traffic lights. The speed of uptake of this relatively new technology by the children surprised everyone.
